Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the last 16, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This match provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.
Dominance Asserted from the Start
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
